3/9/12 2 Days of Cold - then a return to warmth & Spring Forward

I am sure you are waking up this morning saying, "well, that was nice while it lasted".  Yes, that was a cold front, but nicely, the cold air will only bring up back to normal and by Sunday, it will be mild again! (and it will stick around longer)

The cold front will continue to push off the coast and clearing will take place throughout the morning hours.

However, the air aloft if quite cold and pop up clouds and showers will be possible after 1 PM today and by 4 PM, scattered showers are likely across parts of MA.

Todays high in Boston will be 45.

The type of showers are scattered in nature and are typical as a cold air mass moves overhead of a warmer surface with sun shining through.

That is snow that you see on the map as well, a few flurries can be seen overnight in the Boston area and some areas west and north of Boston could see an inch of snow. Higher in the Berkshires.

Light snow will fall especially over Southern NH and VT and the Merrimack Valley. Only flurries are expected in the Boston area.

Saturday will be chilly across the Boston area with a few morning flurries, leading to sunshine by later morning.

A warming trend will continue on Sunday into next week, and in fact, by March 20, temperatures could climb into the 70s!
