3/3/12 Warmer today, showers maybe a clap of Thunder

Thankfully, for us here in the Boston area, the severe weather that struck the South and Midwest yesterday is weakening and moving off the east coast.  We will only see a morning filled with overspreading rains that are associated with total storm.

This image shows what will be our weather for the day on Saturday. A weak area of Low Pressure will form off of Long Island today, and track over Cape Cod by early afternoon. This could initiate a brief thunderstorm, especially over Cape Cod and keep the chance of showers and rain in the forecast for much of the day. It will though usher in warmer air and push temperatures to rise into the lower 50s as a warm front moves from the south to the north.  Expect temperatures to begin to rise around noon.    The warmth will  be short lived as a cold front, now over PA and NY will push through around 4 PM today.  As can be seen, some clearing could be seen after 4 PM as the drier colder air moves in so expect some sunshine late in the day.
Temperatures will warm into the 50s for eastern New England today. A chance of a thunderstorm exists over the Cape. A cold front pushes through to dry and clear the sky out around 4 PM in the Boston area. Expect a gusty West North West wind.
The entire storm system. The low over the Great Lakes will weaken and move into Canada. A mix of  clear and clouds are expected on Sunday. The heavy/severe weather stays south.
Sunday will see a mix of Sun and Clouds across Boston.  The rain across the south with move North but should stay over the Cape with scattered showers and the clouds reaching a line from just south of Boston to Providence and Groton, CT.
The week ahead - Cold air will push into New England for early in the week then a major warm up will occur later in the week with temperatures potentially reaching the 60s by Thursday.
